Effects of nursing intervention on sarcopenia of elders in community

2019
Objective To discuss the effects of resistance exercise and high-protein nutritional intervention on sarcopenia for aged in the community. Methods From March 2016 to March 2017, 425 patients with muscular dysplasia aged over 65 years in the communities under the jurisdiction of the hospital were divided into four subgroups: the resistance exercise group, the nutrition guidance group, the resistance exercise combined nutrition guidance group and the control group.Corresponding interventions were implemented in the first 3 groups. After 12 months of intervention, the effects were compared among four groups. Results There were no differences in muscle strength, muscle function and muscle mass in resistance exercise group and nutrition education group respectively(P>0.05). However, muscle strength(P<0.05), muscle function(P<0.01) and muscle mass had statistical significance in resistance exercise combined with nutrition education group(P<0.05). Conclusion Resistance exercise interventions combined with high-protein nutrition rich-in leucine and vitamin D can release the progress of sarcopenia in elders. Key words: Sarcopenia; Elder; Nursing
