PIC: una infraestructura para el procesamiento masivo de datos científicos

The Puerto de Informacion Cientifica (PIC) was founded in 2003 as a center of scientific-technological excellence focused on the processing and management of large amounts of scientific data. Located at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB), PIC was created with the purpose of contributing significantly to the processing of data from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) particle accelerator experiments from the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN), and for applying the knowledge, methodologies, and technologies derived from the activities, improving quality and enhancing the visibility of Spanish researchers at the international level. CIEMAT and IFAE (Institute for High Energy Physics at the UAB) maintain PIC through a collaboration agreement supported by the Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Competitiveness, and the Department of Economy and Knowledge of the Generalitat of Catalonia.
