Quality of life in patients treated with stereotactic radiosurgery following resection of brain metastases.

e19726 Background: This multi-institutional study analyzes QOL in pts tx with stereotactic r(SRS) to the tumor bed following gross total resection (GTR) of brain mets. Health-related qualify of life (HRQL) is defined as "the extent to which one’s usual or expected physical, emotional, and social well-being are affected by a medical condition.” We hypothesize that SRS to the tumor bed will maintain cognitive fx in these pts. Methods: The Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy, Brain (FACT-Br)V 4.0 was administered to each pt at baseline, 1 mo post tx, and then every 3 mo.The FACT-Br consists of the FACT-G, which assesses px, social, emotional,and fx well-being (27 items) and 23 items related to brain tumor-specific concerns. For all questions, responses range from 0 (not at all) to 4 (very much). A score was tallied for each subsx, with a total possible score of 0-200.
