REVIEW ON URBAN SPATIAL STRUCTURE RESEARCH INFLUENCED BY MOBILE INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

2012
The constant increase on the scale of the cellphone users and netizens signifies that the appearance and the application of the mobile information technology have entered the second stage to the information revolution. With the arrival of the era of the mobile information, the study on urban space structure is undergoing the new transformation as followed: to begin with, due to the increase of the popularity rate of the mobile facilities,it becomes more and more important for the cellphone and Google as a new means to geographical study on the era of mobile information. Then,in the previous study on the influence of information technology to space, the quantity of internet domain names and the capacity of backbone network bandwidth are the main indicators to the study on urban network named urban space structure.Next, from the present view point, the study in the west runs faster than that in the home, and the study contents abound than domestic which is merely involved in the study on resident behavior, space time constraint, cyberspace, and urban network. The study home and abroad, however, places particular emphasis on urban out space structure, and it needs concerted effort of the new data, means and concept to step into the study on urban functional space based on the achievement of personal study.Furthermore, the appearance and application of the mobile information technology is the second stage to the information revolution. The combination between wireless network and mobile facilities motivates the development of mobile service as well as creates a new era of mobile information."The New Mobilities Paradigm" bridges the difference between space issue and mobility. The geographical study is faced with further complicated objects and the methods need the multi-disciplinary incorporation and the application of the new technology. At last, the geographical space study in the influence of mobile information technology focuses mainly on both cyberspace and physical space.
