Interpositional bone‐grafting of the atrophic edentulous mandible. A review

— A review is provided of the development of a surgical approach to the atrophic edentulous mandible by the interposition of bone graft from the iliac crest. Past and recent results are evaluated and current treatment protocols outlined. A co-ordinated surgical and prosthodontic approach to the atrophic mandible is presented.
