Failure Analysis of Overhead Conductors Damaged by Preformed Helical Stockbridge Damper

2020
A certain 220kV transmission line is arranged in the north-south direction, and the preformed helical dampers are adopted to prevent aeolian vibration of conductors. During the inspection of hidden defects of the transmission line at the beginning of 2016, it was found that a large number of conductors were worn by preformed helical clamps of the dampers, which seriously affected the safe and stable operation of the transmission line. In this paper, the failure causes of conductor wire are analyzed from several aspects including anti-vibration mechanism, damper structure, meteorological conditions along the line and anti-vibration measures. In addition, corresponding improvement measures and suggestions are put forward.
