"A real pain in the side": A Retrospective Audit.

2014
Loin pain is a common surgical presentation which often requires more than clinical examination and bedside tests to achieve a definitive diagnosis. Patients with loin pain at presentation are straightaway suspected of having renal colic and referred to urology for investigation. However, patients prematurely referred may find themselves under the incorrect team once further investigations confirm the diagnosis. Inappropriate referrals may therefore result in a delay of suitable treatment.
