Artificial self-organizing neural network for partial discharge source recognition

In this paper the application of Kohonen's self-organizing feature map for partial discharge (pd) source recognition is described. Several HV tests on artificially injured medium voltage cables have been made to study the capabilities in source recognition and injury description. A description of the learning algorithm and results of the discrimination between different kinds of defects are presented.
