The social position of the Chilean musician: Inquire on self-efficacy's factors and perceptions in the professional development of two Chilean musicians.

This investigation inquiries into the self-efficacy perceptions of two professional Chilean musicians with a career spanning over 10 years. For this a transversal qualitative design was used in which two semistructured interviews were applied. Thematic discourse analysis and interpretative analysis were done based on Bourdieu’s concepts of field, taste and habitus; Bandura’s self-efficacy theory and Foucault’s insights on discourse and knowledge. The results revealed important notions on self-efficacy conformation from its four sources, and sociocultural factors which influence the development of these self-efficacy perceptions: ideas about crowd, government’s failings and the people inside the Chilean musical field.
