[Contraception and liberal medical acts. The results of a national enquiry carried out by INSERM 1974-1975 (author's transl)].

1980
The French INSERM (National Institute for Health and Medical Research) conducted in 1975 a survey among general practitioners and gynecologists to examine analyze and measure the number of medical acts related to contraception carried out over the national territory. The questionnaires filled by 1150 doctors were examined for a total of 4.6 million medical acts leading to contraception in women between 15-44. It was apparent that the urban or rural zone of residence of a woman determines the choice of a general practitioner or of a specialist for contraceptive services. About 55% of contraceptive medical acts were performed by general practitioners; still contraceptive services are a small part of the activities of a general practitioner with approximately 1 act every 2-3 days. Younger doctors tend to impart contraceptive services more often than older doctors. (Summary in ENG)
