Neonatal Myocardial Infarction in Association with Gestational Diabetes.

2021
Abstract Fetal and neonatal hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a complication of gestational diabetes and usually follows a benign course. In this report, we present a rare case of a newborn of a diabetic mother with severe ventricular hypertrophy who developed myocardial infarction (MI) confirmed by elevated cardiac enzymes, electrocardiographic changes as well as subendocardial ischemia on CMR imaging. Follow up revealed complete functional myocardial recovery with normalization of ventricular systolic and diastolic functions on serial echocardiograms.
