MOVEMENT OF 3,000 TONS OF CONCRETE SHIELDING BLOCKS ADJACENT TO THE NIMROD MAGNET FOUNDATIONS

1963
When the 140-ft long, 30-ft wide, 3,000-ton concrete radiation shield wall on Nimrod between the Magnet Room and Experimental Hall was moved some 50 ft it was thought desirable to measure foundation movements resulting to assess the effect on machine alignment. This report shows the readings taken in graphical form and assesses the effect of the shield wall movement on the foundations. (auth)
