Complexes of copper. (II): Soaps-benzothiazole, synthesis, IR and ESR studies

2003
Complexes of copper (II) soaps and benzothiazole of the 1:1 and 1:0.5 stoichiometry of the type MR 2 .L and MR 2 .0.5 L were synthesized and characterized by infrared and ESR studies. The infrared and ESR spectral data support the involvement of both nitrogen and oxygen atoms in the complex formation. Furthermore, data favours the square planar or elongated octahedral configuration for copper (II) soaps and substantiate the covalent character of the metal ligand bond.
