Role of interaction between alveolar epithelial type II cells and macrophages in acute respiratory distress syndrome

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) has a high mortality rate and specific treatments have not yet been developed.The interaction between alveolar epithelial type Ⅱ cells and macrophages has a certain impact in the pathological course of ARDS.Therefore, it is urgent to develop cellular immunotherapy technology based on cell-cell communication.This article reviews the role of interaction between alveolar epithelial type Ⅱ cells and macrophages in different pathological processes of ARDS.
