Circularly Polarized Emission of Lanthanide Ion Complexes

A research field, where Ln3+ ions dominate the scene for their unique properties is the emission of circularly polarized light primarily under photo-excitation, but also as the consequence of other energy transfer processes. In this chapter we shall summarize some fundamental aspects of this phenomenon, with a close look to applications.
