A case of quadricuspid aortic valve diagnosed by three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography and multidetector computed tomography

As is bicuspid aortic valve, quadricuspid aortic valve (QAV) is a congenital anomaly that can cause aortic regurgitation. This condition has often been diagnosed in the past on the basis of intraoperative findings, but the number of cases diagnosed preoperatively has been increasing in recent years. We report here a case of asymptomatic QAV diagnosed noninvasively using twodimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and confirmed by multidetector-row computed tomography (MDCT).
