Miscibility and crystalline properties of poly(vinylidene fluoride)/poly(vinylidene fluoridetrifluorochloroethylene) blends

2012
The poly(vinylidene fluoride)/poly(vinylidene fluoridechlorotrifluoro ethylene) blend membranes were prepared by a solution cast approach after physical blending. The miscibility, crystallization properties and surface morphology of the samples were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry, Xray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectra and scanning electron microscopy. The results show that the random copolymer P(VDFCTFE) in the PVDF/P(VDFCTFE) blends has a certain miscibility with PVDF, which affects the crystalmelt thermodynamic characteristics of PVDF. In PVDF/P(VDFCTFE) blend crystallization process, P(VDFCTFE) is beneficial for the formation of β phase. PVDF is well distributed in the PVDF/P(VDFCTFE) blends. The spherulite is reduced by decreasing the content of the PVDF.
