Design of Optical Antenna operating at Terahertz frequency for In-Vivo Cancer Detection

2020
Abstract Terahertz (THz) frequency is finding vast application in health monitoring and disease diagnosis as it has been proven safe for humans. This paper presents design and steps involved in designing the terahertz antenna operating at 257.04 THz for In-Vivo lung cancer detection. The proposed antenna aids in detecting and differentiating between the different stages of lung cancer. The cancer changes the permittivity of the lung. The radiation pattern of the antenna when placed on the infected lung phantom shows variation in comparison to the healthy lung. The stages of the lung cancer can also be deciphered by radiation pattern of the designed antenna as the tumor differs in size and location with advancement in each stage.
