Antigen Society #26 Report (DR3, DR7, DQw2): Part 3: Serologic Definition of HLA-DR7

1989
Since 1977, HLA-DR7 has been one of the best defined antigens. During the Eighth and Ninth International Histocompatibility Workshops, excellent anti-DR7 typing reagents were selected (1,2). No DR7 split was suggested. Some monoclonal antibodies were found to react with this antigen and some others were reacting with all HLA-DR specificities except DR7 (3). During the Ninth Workshop, information about associations with Dw, DP, and DQ specificities were obtained in various ethnic groups; in Caucasians, DR7 is associated with Dw7, Dw17 (DQw2), and Dw11 (DQw8 positive, often Bw57); in Negroes and Orientals, DR7 is associated with DQw2 (4). In Caucasians, significant linkage, disequilibria were found with A29, A30, B13, B44,Bw57 Bw64, Cw6, Cw8, Dw7, Dw11, and DQw2; in Negroes with Bw57, Bw64, Cw2, Cw8, DQw2; and in Orientals with B13, Cw6 and DQw2 (5).
