The CO2 heat pump project at the TU Dresden

CO2 is investigated for use as refrigerant in heat pumps, especially for heating applications with a high temperature glide. The project is carried out in co-operation with industry and support from the German Ministry of Education and Research. Aims of the research are: to analyze thermodynamic properties and various cycle calculations; to design, select and construct components; to assemble the test installation; to realize a safety concept; to realize the initial start-up and carry out measurements; to characterize the test installation; and to evaluate the use of CO2 in different applications The test installation was built according to German standard specifications for heat pumps and was checked according to German safety standards. 4 refs.
