Anatomy of the Abdominal Wall
2014
The anatomy of the abdominal wall in the study of hernias consists of the description of the anterior, posterior, and inguinal areas of the abdomen. Knowledge of the muscles, nerves, arteries, and veins in each area is important in order to perform a preperitoneal or transabdominal laparoscopy to repair a hernia. Knowledge of the dangerous areas and structures is very useful in order to avoid complications of the surgery.
