Measurement of Double Differential (n,xα) Cross Sections of natNi, 58Ni, 60Ni, natCu, 63Cu and 65Cu in the 5 to 14 MeV Neutron Energy Range

Alpha yield data by neutron irradiation of natural Ni, natural Cu and enriched single isotopes were measured. The neutron energy was varied from 5 to 10 MeV and a single energy point at 14 MeV. The prompt α-particle production was measured simultaneously by five dE-dE-E telescopes. The α yield data of natural Ni and some of the natural Cu were measured relative to the elastic scattering cross section of H, whereas the yield data of the samples with enriched isotopes were measured relative to the yield of 58Ni. By integration of the double differential data over α-particle energy and over emission angle the total prompt α yield is obtained which is compared with the data from the ENDF/B-VI evaluation.
