Tortícolis congénita y plagiocefalia

Objetives: To establish the differences between the different types of congenital torticolis, as well as, the incidence of plagiocephalia in this affection. Methodology: In physical examination two clearly different symptorns must be distinguished: Postural Congenital Troticollis and Congenital Muscular TorticolIis. Plagiocephalia rnight be present as a secondary effect. Other congenital anomalies are frequently associated. Results: Of the 56 examinated cases, 2 suffered postural congenital torticollis and 54 suffered congenital muscular torticolIis. Of these 54 cases, 19 developped muscular retraction and torticollis. 26 patients sufferd more or less prorninent plagiocephalia. There was °n'y one case of congenital luxation of the hip. Conclusions: Clinical deformity is proportional tu the relationship between fibrosiss and remaining functional muscle. Plagiocephalia is frequently present.
