A brief description is presented of the legislation leading to the establishment of the narcotic unit for male patients at Pilgrim State Hospital, with an outline of program attitudes and procedures, medication employed, incidence of hepatitis, tattooing, data on age, race and weight gain, and experiences with group therapy. Attention is drawn to the high incidence of hepatitis and its correlation with tattooing.
