(Dietary modification) A healthy dietary pattern is associated with decreased TC, LDL-C, and TG levels. A dietary pattern with emphasis on vegetables, fruit, legumes, nuts, whole grains, and fish intake is recommended. Avoid trans fats and reduce saturated fatty acid intake as much as possible. Reduce dietary simple carbohydrates and replace them with monounsaturated fats or polyunsaturated fats. Avoid added sugar and sugar-sweetened beverages. Limit alcohol use.
