assessment ofleft ventricular function incoronaryarterial disease

left ventricular end-diastolic dimension was increased tomorethan5-4cm in17patients. Fifteen ofthese patients hadan ejection fraction of045orless. Three patients hada normal left ventricular end-diastolic dimension butan ejection fraction ofless than0-45. Twenty-three patients hadanejection fraction ofmorethan0-45anda normal left ventricular end-diastolic dimension. Theleft ventricular end-diastolic dimension index was increased (>3cm/M2) in15patients, all ofwhomhadejection fraction ofless than0-45. Three patients hada normal left ventricular end-diastolic dimension index andanejection fraction ofless than0-45. Twenty-five patients hada left ventricular enddiastolic dimension index ofless than3cm/M2 orless andan ejection fraction ofmore than0-45. Thepercentage fractional shortening oftheechocardiographic left ventricular dimension was reduced in25patients. In18ofthese theejection fraction was 0-45 orless. Thepercentage fractional shortening oftheleft ventricle was normal in18patients. In2ofthemtheejection fraction wasless than045.Insummary,increase ofthe left ventricular end-diastolic dimension orleft ventricular end-diastolic dimension index isusually associated with acritical reduction oftheejection fraction asdetermined byventriculography. Since theejection fraction
