Effectiveness of Counseling on Self Esteem Among Menopausal Women

A quasi experimental study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of counseling on improvement of self esteem among menopausal women residing in selected villages by purposive sampling technique. 16 menopausal women with age group of 40–55 years are selected. Among them 8 were considered as controlled group and 8 were treated as experimental group. Pre test was conducted using structured questionnaire to assess self esteem following which counseling was given to the experimental group. And post test was conducted with the same tool among both the group. The finding of the study revealed that mean post test score level of self esteem (83.37) higher than pre test score (71.37) in the experimental group. The difference between the mean pretest and post test score level of self esteem was highly significant at p=0.001 level. No difference was found among control group. The study concluded that counseling was effective in improving self esteem among menopausal women.
