INFECTION AND PREGNANCY - THE EXPERIENCE OF THE HOSPITAL OF INFECTIOUS DISEASES IASI IN 2018

2020
Aim: To evaluate the incidence of different infections diagnosed in the pregnant women admitted at the “Sf. Parascheva” Clinical Hospital of Infectious Diseases, from Iasi. Material and methods: We conducted a retrospective study using the hospital-based medical records of the pregnant patients admitted in our hospital. We analyzed clinical and paraclinical data regarding symptomatology, treatment and evolution. Results: In 2018, 11 707 patients were admitted to the clinic, of which 6 102 were female. 102 of them were pregnant women (1.67%) diagnosed with a variety of conditions. Specifically, 52.94% suffered from respiratory tract infections (including bacterial pneumonia, interstitial pneumonia, confirmed influenza, tracheobronchitis), 15.68% had urinary tract infections, and 15.68% presented digestive pathologies. Symptomatic and antibiotic treatment was initiated, with a favorable evolution in 99% of cases. Conclusions: Pregnancy-related immunosuppression seems to predispose pregnant women to certain infections.
