The relationship between regional tourism interrelation and fractal structure of scenic spots in Xinjiang

2013
Different natural, historical and socio-economic conditions give rise to differences in the spatial structure of regional tourism systems. With the help of tourism economics model, this paper discussed the intensity of regional tourism interrelation and the subordination degree of tourism economy among regions. Based on calculation of linkage intensity and direction between regions, it is shown that linkages within the tourism economy are extremely unevenly distributed and are mainly concentrated in Urumqi and Changji, and these two regions are included in the strong contact area, the others belong to the general contact area. Fractal thought is used to explore the spatial structure of a regional tourism system to promote efficient use and harmonious development of human-land relationships. This study shows that there is a relationship between the strength of regional tourism interrelation and the fractal structure of scenic spots: The capacity dimension and information dimension in the strong contact area are all smaller than the same dimensions in the general area. This suggests that differences in the spatial distribution of scenic spots gradually increase as the extent of tourism linkages weakens. It can also be seen that the spatial distribution of scenic spots more even in the region with high linkages than in the area with lower connectivity.
