Caesium-137 body burden in persons chosen at random from selected areas in Norway.

1963
The Cs¹³⁷ body burden and content in milk in Norway was deterriined. A detailed study of the milk from Masfjorden showed that its Cs¹³⁷ content showed a first decided increase in June, rising all summer to a maximum of about 1800 pC/l by the end of Sept. Then the value showed a rapid decline. The Cs¹³⁷ body burden was studied in persons from Masfjorden, which has a high yearly precipitation, and also from Bergen. Large differences in the body burdens measured in the two groups were found, Masfjorden being the highest, despite the fact that the towns are not more than 30 miles apart. No evidence of a direct correlation between milk consumption and the Cs¹³⁷ body-burden was found. (P.C.H.)
