Internal derangements of the temporomandibular joint. II. Use of bone scanning as an aid to diagnosis.

1985
— A study is reported comparing the value of arthrography, transcranial spot-film radiography, radionuclide angiography, planar bone scintigraphy, and single photon emission computed tomography bone scintigraphy (SPECT) in the evaluation of thirty-six adult patients with surgically confirmed internal derangement of the temporomandibular joint. The conclusion was reached that SPECT bone scintigraphy currently represents the non-invasive imaging test of choice to screen for internal derangements of the temporomandibular joint.
