Analysis on the results of serum agglutination tests for brucellosis in the City of Zibo in 2007-2008.

Objective To analyze suspected cases of brucellosis detected in the City of Zibo from 2007-2008.Methods The sera of patients suspected of having brucellosis in the City of Zibo were tested by SAT.Results There were a total of 398 suspected cases of brucellosis.The mean positive rate was 28.14%(112/398) and the positive rate in 2008(39.02%) was higher than that in 2007(20.51%);the highest prevalence was in males ages 30 to 50(33.75%).In terms of occupation,infections were found more often in veterinarians(21.10%).In terms of geography,Linzi District had a higher prevalence(15.33%).Most cases appeared from March to June.Conclusion Brucellosis is prevalent in the City of Zibo.
