Crystalline texture of polychloroprene as revealed in ultrathin sections

1970
The staining and hardening procedure of osmium tetraoxide developed in plastic-rubber two phase system was employed for disclosing the texture of a crystalline polymer under an electron microscope. Crystalline polychloroprene was chosen as a material, with the expectation that a polymer containing double bonds would be more effectively stained. As a result, the spherulitic crystalline texture was observed distinctly under an electron microscope.
