Fritz Juliusberg (1872-1939): his life and achievements in dermatology

2010
The name of Juliusberg is known in dermatology mainly due to two related eponyms: Kaposi-Juliusberg syndrome (also known as Kaposi-Juliusberg dermatitis, pustulosis acuta varioliformis, and eczema herpeticum) and NeisserJuliusberg pityriasis lichenoides chronic. His life and medical interests are much less known, however. Juliusberg lived in many different places, including Breslau (present-day Wroclaw), Wurzburg, Freiburg, Posen (present-day Poznan), Braunschweig, and Berlin. Thus, this study was based on thorough historical research, including the Archives of Wroclaw University, the Archives of Freiburg University, the Landesarchiv in Berlin, the Archives of Braunschweig City, the State Archives of Zurich, the State Archives in Poznan, and the Archives of the Municipal Hospital in Poznan as well as some materials from private collections and on some published sources.
