Inhomogeneous and Anisotropic Metamaterial clad Waveguide for Sensing Applications

2019
Numerical investigations of a coaxial waveguide, which has an inhomogeneous as well as an anisotropic clad, have been carried out. The annular region of the coaxial waveguide is homogeneous and isotropic. This type of clad can be obtained by chemical anodization of an aluminum film coated on an isotropic silica waveguide. The porous structure of the clad allow to fill in a fluid. Analysis shows that this type of a waveguide could be potentially useful entrenched for a real time fluid sensing. A simple case of water in the clad region is considered for demonstration.
