Efeitos da fisioterapia respiratória na Síndrome de Kartagener: estudo de caso Effects of respiratory phisioterapy in Kartagener's Syndrome: a case study

2008
The Kartageners Syndrome is a rare recessive autosomal illness, which is characterized by chronic paranasal sinusitis, bronquiectasis and situs inversus with dextrocardia. The objective of this work is to analyze the permeability of the airways after manual physiotherapist maneuvers, in view of these patients presenting this mucociliary dyskinesia. It was observed a patient carrier of Kartageners syndrome, submitted to an evaluation and a reevaluation, such as manovacuometry and peak flow. It was performed 18 sessions of physiotherapy treatment, twice per week. The maneuvers to improve the permeability of the aerial ways were ELTGOL and AfE. The patient was monitored during all the sessions with pulse oximetry. It was observed that the patient presented a clinical improvement, suggesting that the considered treatment was efficacious in clinical evolution. These express values inferring that patients with this pathology have necessity to carry through respiratory physiotherapy.
