Circo, teatro, cinema e esporte: os jogos olímpicos na mídia impressa carioca de 1890 a 1910

This article investigates the narratives about the olympic games in four Rio de Janeiro’s newspapers in the decades of 1890 and 1900. During this research, we established four categories in order to better understand the olympic games, namely: a) the olympic games organized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC); b) other olympic games (“non official ”events); c) olympic games as an entertainment and cultural and artistic practice; d) olympic games as a theme of comparison and as daily use expression. In this article, we will focus on the third category.
