Generation of 215 W supercontinuum containing visible spectra from 480 nm

2018
Abstract An all-fiber supercontinuum source with 215 W of average power and spectra spanning from 480 nm to over 2000 nm is reported. Constructed with a pulsed seed and four stages of amplifiers based on large-mode-area fiber for mitigating nonlinear effects, the pump power of supercontinuum is up scaled to 556 W. A special designed mode field adaptor is developed to maximize the coupling of pump to photonic crystal fiber for improving the power scaling capability of supercontinuum generation. In the end, the main factors influencing the conversion efficiency are also discussed.
