Transient seepage flow in angular reservoirs

2010
the development technology improves for the oilfield and the growing demand for oil and gas resources, more and more reservoirs with complex formation are exploited, especially for the block faulted reservoirs in China. In order to obtain higher efficiency for desirable reservoir recovery, the characteristics of the reservoir must be known clearly, which include the reservoir shape, the boundary properties, reservoir permeability, porosity, pressure and their changes and so on. Therefore, based on the characteristics of the practical problems, a new set of transient flow model is established for the angular reservoir with arbitrary angle, finite element method is used for solving this model. By comparing the results with the existing results of the image theory, the correctness of the numerical model is proved. The effect of angle value, distance from well to boundary, and boundary properties on bottom pressure are analyzed. The seepage fields of the angular reservoir are visualized. The research results are helpful for the adjustment of reservoir development plan to reach high ultimate recovery.
