PRIMARY HEPATIC LYMPHOMA (PHL) IN PREGNANCY, A RARE CASE PRESENTATION

2016
A 27 year old lady in the 36th week of her pregnancy presented with a two weeks history of right upper abdominal pain, jaundice and hepatomegally. The radiological studies confirmed the presence of multiple hepatic lesions indicative of metastatic disease or hepatocellular carcinoma however the biopsy of the lesions confirmed diffuse large B-Cell lymphoma of the liver and further investigations including postpartum CT chest-abdomenpelvis and bone marrow biopsy excluded extrahepatic disease so a diagnosis of Primary Hepatic Lymphoma (PHL) was made which is a very rare diagnosis and to the best of the literature search, its presentation in a young pregnant lady is probably the first ever case reported in medical studies and this case report will illustrate the salient clinical and therapeutic issues in the light of the limited retrospective case reviews.
