Dystonia Induced by Prolonged Activation of Cerebellar Glutamatergic Receptors

2016
Intracerebellar administration of kainate in rodents causes dystonia. Kainate-induced dystonia requires the output of cerebellar Purkinje cells and likely arises from excessive glutamatergic excitation. The dystonia elicited by kainate demonstrates that dystonia may result from abnormal cerebellar output.
