Engineering a novel microcapsule of Cu9S5 core and SnS2 quantum dot/carbon nanotube shell as Li-ion battery anode

2021
A novel microcapsule composing of Cu9S5 and SnS2 quantum dot (QD)/carbon nanotube (CNT) prepared through a microfluidic approach is developed for Li-ion battery anode. CNTs enhance the conductivity; pores in shell facilitate electrolyte penetration; and void in the microcapsule buffers the volume-change. The microcapsules-based anode displays stable capacity, Coulombic efficiency of 99.9%, and reversible rate-performance at temperatures of ‒10 oC and 45 oC, which are significant for developing many high-performance energy-storage materials and battery systems.
