Fibrinogen measurement by a novel point-of-care device with whole blood: comparison of values against Clauss method.

2021
Timely fibrinogen replacement is key to treating critical hemorrhage. Measuring fibrinogen concentration by conventional laboratory tests requires centrifugation of blood samples and is often time-consuming. A point-of-care testing device (AT R = 0.891; P < 0.01). The study indicated that FibCare allows accurate measurement of fibrinogen concentration and shows a possibility to contribute to optimal fibrinogen replacement therapy during critical hemorrhage.
