A solid catalyst component for polymerizing olefins that contains: titanium; magnesium; halogen; a compound expressed by (R 1 ) k C 6 H 4-k (COOR 2 )(COOR 3 ); and a compound expressed by R 4 O-C(=O)-O-Z-OR 5 . The present invention enables the provision of a novel solid catalyst component for polymerizing olefins that has superior olefin polymerization activity, superior activity on hydrogen during polymerization, and enables the production of polymerized olefins exhibiting superior rigidity, high MFR, and high stereoregularity.
