2013
Management of patients with facial deformities requires a multi-disciplinary approach. Nose is one of the important parts of face. The beauty has always been associated with size and shape of nose and if for any reason the nose is deformed or lost it can make a person to appear ugly and lead to severe social and psychological embarrassments which necessitates the rehabilitation of such patients. Nasal-rehabilitation not only greatly adds to aesthetics but also psychological well-being of the patient. The immediate prosthetic rehabilitation of a patient with a total rhinectomy following Basal Cell Carcinoma is presented. Recognition of the susceptibility to infections of such medically compromised patients further complicates the situation. A method for rapidly fabricating a nasal prosthesis is described, and the importance of prompt esthetic and psychological rehabilitation is reviewed.
