Renovation technology and evaluation of load carrying capacity for sewage pipe renewal method

1999
As an increasing number of sewage pipes in Japan are outliving their legally required service life of 50 years, renovation of corroded or damaged sewage pipes is becoming an urgent task. The authors developed a pipe renovation technology called Sewage Pipe Renewal (SPR) Method that can be used to form a cross section of arbitrary shape and carried out an loading test and numerical analyses to investigate the load carrying mechanism of composite pipes formed by the SPR Method. [1], [2] Through both test and numerical studies, the authors confirmed that the load carrying capacity of the renovated pipe was recovered about to one of the original pipe by the virtue of the existing pipe and grouted mortar behaving as one body.
