EMISSIONS FROM A SUPERCHARGED LIGHT DIESEL

1980
The report gives results obtained in a research programme funded by the Transport Systems Center of the US Department of Transportation. The aim of the research is to investigate hydrocarbon, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide and particulate emissions obtainable from a small pre-chamber diesel engine by varying certain parameters (combustion, injection characteristics, e.g.r., oxidising catalyser, and supercharging). Organic compounds absorbed on the particles were also chemically characterised and quantified, and the various emissions limits upon fuel consumption and driving performance in the car was examined at the same time.
