Background Emergency medical services (EMS) provide the first line of treatment for out of hospital pediatric seizures. Seizures are the most common pediatric neurologic emergency and account for around 15% of all pediatric EMS calls. Prior studies suggest that more than 50% of patients with active seizure activity do not receive prehospital antiepileptic drugs.
