Effects of gastroesophageal reflux symptomson the life quality of the Hakkas

Objective Hakka people with the ethnic characteristics living in a typical structure of Hakka Tulou in Fujian whose symptoms were positive were screened, and their quality of life was observed. Methods A Chinese gastroesophageal reflux disease questionnaire (Chinese GerdQ, CGQ) and SF - 36 scale were used to investigate the Hakka people. Results A total of 26 cases(12.6%)among 203 respondents presented GERD positive symptoms, 8 dimensions scores and total scores of the quality of life were lower than those of control group, in which difference of physical function(PF), role physical (RP), body pain (BP), general health (GH), mental health (MH) and total score had statistical significances (P 0.05). Conclusions The proportion of GERD positive symptoms of Hakkasis high, it could affect the physical and mental health.In addition to the popularization of knowledge and guiding the way of life for them, the mental health guidance should be attached importance.
