Double-Peaks Suppression on Flow-Induced Vibration of the Head-Gimbal Assembly in Hard Disk Drives

2018
This work investigates the double-peaks suppression on flow-induced vibration (FIV) of the head-gimbal assembly (HGA) in a hard disk drive (HDD) using a PZT actuator. The PZT exciting voltage is designed through the FIV spectrum which is divided into two parts. Each part contains the frequency range of the focused two principal peaks. A simultaneous suppression up to 3.35 nm (15.3 % ) and 1.19 nm (96.7 % ) of the FIV amplitude of HGA is achieved at 1.,760 Hz and 3.,245 Hz in one control., respectively.
